Faith 101: Willing to Wait

"But if we hope for what we do not see,
we wait for it with patience."

-(Romans 8:25 TEV)-

Many of us say: "TO SEE IS TO BELIEVE."

By saying so, most of us ask for SIGNS... We consult palm/card/crystal ball readers, we follow our daily horoscope feeds, we try to interpret our dreams and what happens every day based on what we experienced before and what we hope to happen. Others even study the course of the stars and other heavenly bodies, natural phenomena and past and current events in the hope of finding the answers to their selfish questions. And I AM ONE OF THESE PEOPLE... I like asking God for signs when I am praying for something.

But as the Bible says: BUT IF WE HOPE FOR SOMETHING WE DO NOT SEE, WE WAIT FOR IT WITH PATIENCE...

WAITING develops ENDURANCE and TRUSTING someone or something we do not see or we do not even know exists or will happen STRENGTHENS our FAITH.

If we HOPE for something THAT WE DO NOT SEE, it INSPIRES us to WORK HARD. It is like a LIGHT THAT GUIDES US; it is like a FIRE THAT ENERGIZES US; it is like a SMALL VOICE THAT CONTINUOUSLY MOTIVATES US...

Of course, if we have a PICTURE of something or someone in our minds, it attracts our attention and suggests an idea to us where we should focus. It adds more inspiration and motivation. But REAL FAITH comes when we are "blind"- when we do not see what will really happen and if we do not know when and how it will happen. Then our FAITH teaches our HEART to patiently wait.

So in everyday of our lives, just PATIENTLY WAIT. There should be no bargaining of "to see is to believe". Let God work its way. Just like how we quickly respond "YES" to a food crew's question: "Willing to Wait?" Let us say to God as well, "YES, I am willing to wait for your own time and answer."
