Faith 101: The Father's Will

He went a little farther on, threw Himself face downward on the ground and prayed:
"Father, if it is possible, take this cup of suffering from me!
Yet not what I want, but what You want."

-Matthew 26:39 TEV-

Jesus knows what will happen to Him. And as a proof of His human nature, He also felt terrified. But He knows that everything should happen to fulfill what is written in the Scriptures. He still accepted what was bound to happen and honored the will of The Father.

Like Jesus, we also have our own suffering. We have our cross to carry on in life. We also come to a point in our life when we ask ourselves: "Why me?"; when we suddenly feel that the weight of the responsibilities is pressing us too much; when we feel exhausted; when we feel down and tired; when we feel anxious and helpless. We ask ourselves why all responsibilities should be on us- be it responsibilities to our family, at work, in a relationship, in a community and group where we belong. Sometimes, we feel like these responsibilities are bigger than who  we are, they are more than what we have and what we can do.

But when we accept the truth that God doesn't give us what we cannot handle, that God gives us responsibilities because He knows that there is something special in us, that God knows that we will be faithful to accomplish everything that's put on our shoulders, that we can be a perfect vessel in blessing other people and in advancing His Kingdom, then we will know that  nothing is impossible.

Jesus said: "Yet not what I want but what You want." It was a declaration that Jesus accepted the weakness of His human nature but His respect to the will of God. He knows that it was not all about Him, but it's all about God's plan.

So, have that Christ-like attitude. Carry your cross without a  heavy heart. Be responsible and faithful to the purpose of God in your life. Do not be afraid. Just take time to pray and cast all the burdens and fears in your heart that might affect how God can fulfil His plans to the world through you.
