Faith 101: The Narrow Gate

"Go in through the narrow gate,
because the gate to hell is wide and the road that leads to it is easy and
there many who travel it. . .
But the gate to life is narrow and the way that leads to it is hard and
there are few people who find it."

-(Matthew 7:13-14 TEV)-

LIFE IS A JOURNEY.

We pass through different stages of growth and development; we travel from one place to another to find the meaning of our existence;  we go with different people and do different things in the attempt to know ourselves and the purpose of our living.

If we will follow the path where most people go, indeed, we will be happy and the journey will be easy. But be careful because if we will not properly  choose the people whom we will go with, or the road we will take, our journey will surely be derailed.

If we will go with worldly people, there will  be a lot of stop-overs that will consume our time, energy and other resources.  Worldly destinations with worldly people will steal our attention and divert our goal out of the real meaning of our journey. The road is wide because in each sides are other pit-stops that will give us temporary relief and to accommodate more worldly people. The travel is easy because in between are pleasurable turns and side-trips that if we don't notice will slowly destroy our hearts and minds. Then we will just know, we are going round and round the maze without reaching our destinations. It's only a journey round and round the world without anyone waiting for us in the end, without anything in our hands as a present, without accomplishing anything at all, without memories to reminisce and without lessons to treasure and ponder on...

But if we will follow the narrow path where only few people go, our journey will  be more exciting and meaningful...

Yes, the road will be narrow because only few people clears the way and no more side-turns and side-trips and stop-overs... It will seem to be lonely and hard at times because resources will be lesser and you will rely only to yourself but it is alright. Because it is when we are empty and alone that  we learn to rely on God.

If we will just fix our eyes at the end of the road,  we will surely see Jesus Christ waiting for us. And as we pass through the straight road,  the journey will become easier and better... it will become worth finishing. When we successfully reach the end of the journey, Jesus Christ will open the gates of heaven where God is waiting for us and will be happy to listen  as we tell him the memories of our journey and the lessons we learned. He will  never ask for a present...because ourselves alone is enough...
