Faith Like a Tree

The tree is supposed to give shade
when the rain is pouring down or
the sun is scorching hot.
It is supposed to bear fruits and
to provide haven for birds and
freshen up the air that everybody breathes in.

When a strong storm comes
it dances with the wind.
It bends so as not to break up or
completely fall down.

But if its leaves withered and
its body dried up
Are you still going to find comfort underneath?
to appreciate its beauty?
to find it valuable?

Same with your faith.

When it is shaken and dried up
Are you still going to look up?
to believe?
Can you bow down with humility when everything is out of your control?
Can you stand up when you don’t have anything left to be proud of or
you can’t give anything anymore.
Will you still find the essence of your life?

I guess you still can...
As long as your roots are deeply and strongly anchored underneath.
It doesn’t really matter what can be seen outside.
But what lies
Within...
